Installed Gallery, and have tried to figure this out on my own and can't figure out what I'm missing. I uploaded in Binary mode, pretty sure I'm using the correct NETPBM, set permission..... When trying to upload images, I get this result:

ajmboy, 126 seems to indicate that you are using the wrong binares. What binaries did you upload? An actual url to your site might help us determine what system your host is running.

The site URL is http://www.quadcrazy.com/gallery/index.php . I installed NETPBM and tried all the versions. I also tried uploading pics through Win XP. Tried different remote applet. Could not get Image magick to work either. Thanks in advance for the help!

My advice is the same as earlier. Check what system your host runs, and upload the correct binaries. If it's FreeBSD, try the 1.1. NetPBM binaries.,

I will try and install netpbm 1.1. Question, why is it that version 1.1 comes as a single file and 1.4 comes with folders and seperate php files. Maybe this is a dumb question, sorry.

ajmboy, NETPBM 1.4 (our version) does not come with php files, thats Gallery. The NetPBM binaries are also more than one file, if you get one file when extracting them, check FAQ Gallery:c.25

Don't let him get to you, h0bbel. You're giving him the right answer, even if he's not picking up on it right away. ajmboy you're getting help from one of the best tech support guys on this project. He's taking time out of his day to help you, for free with your problem. He's also giving you the correct answer to your problem. Take a deep breath, read it more carefully and listen to what he's saying and you'll have a working Gallery.

ajmboy, can you post the results of the following two command for us:

ls -al /mnt/web_g/d07/s24/b01e3354/www/gallery/netpbm/pnmscale
/mnt/web_g/d07/s24/b01e3354/www/gallery/netpbm/pnmscale -version

That should help us figure out what's going on. Thanks!

I am having the same problem as everyone else. The binaries don't seem to be creating thumbnails. In fact to destroy a perfectly good set of thumbs all you have to do is recreate existing ones. I am having the problem on my servers. They are running SME (mitel) aka e-smith 5.6 and I also have a site on a rented server. The site can be seen at http://www.emeraldlifestylehomes.com I am running a the latest complication of NetPBM on both sites. On my test server I can not get a clean install because the configuration program won't recognize "pnmtojpeg" If you wish to take a look email me at

and I will give you the admin password. I will also donate to the cause if you are able to help.

It would appear that we may have a bad compile on the binairy pmntojpeg. When I attempt to do an install the configuration program fails to recognized pmntojpeg as being present.
On a server that seems to regonize pmntojpeg i.e. www.emeraldlifestylehomes.com, Thumnails are not created, consequently, highphoto doesn't work either because there is no thumbnail. It is interesting to note that if one executes the command to rebuild all thumbs. They all go away. However, no error message is generated. If I can be of help in paint this bug into a corner let me know. I have been working with and very happy with Gallery for sometime now and wish to contribute to is continuing sucess as the best of all Galleries. :D

I am deeply concerned about the apparent lack of meaningful response concerning this issue. I have been fighting it for over six weeks. The real tragedy is that once an existing album is broken it can't be fixed. If it takes money to fix the problem then how much?? I am commited to Gallery. So I guess I will have to wait this one out.
With regard to this thread and specifics. I have observed that this is not a server related problem. Many servers of different origins and setups are experiencing the same, or relatively the same problem, an all of them point to the biniaries of NetPBM. My suggestion would be to start backing out recent code for watermarks, etc and then see where the core of thumbs starts working.
