Ok i intergrated Gallery into mambo, Gallery 1.5 and Mambo 4.5.2.1. It is working very smoothly but for one thing. Only admin can create an album, but users cant. Now when i run Gallery in standalone and create a user in their, users can create an album. How can i get it so users in mambo can create a album and upload pictures to them, with out having full admin privalges. Thanks

Have you found a solution yet?

I have exactly the same problem with Gallery 1.5 running inside Mambo 4.5.2 under Linux. Everything runs fine except only admin can create albums and upload pictures, i.e. those options simply aren't displayed for users other than the admin.

Would appreciate any suggestions. Thanks.

You have to create a Users album and set the 'Create Sub-Album' permission to 'LoggedIn'

That the best we can do now?
I assume v 2 will give us more granular integrated security right?

can somebody confirm this?

You can give individual users rights to create and do all sorts of tasks, however the majorly asked question is "How do I let all my users create albums"... and that's by giving all loggedin users permission.

signe thanks for speedy response however I am more confused now.

I know Gallery has the ability to give individual rights for, for example creating albums. HOWEVER when integrating G 1.5 in Mambo these specific individual right that I have given to some of my original gallery users don't seem to be the same.

To me this became obvious when installing mambo I was only asked for admin rights in gallery to be matched with account rights in mambo!

Fot that reason I don't see how mambo account can get individual album create rights using "logged in" ..

Perhaps this illustrates the situation better
At this time I have created top level albums in my Gallery 1.5 configuration, and have given different admin rights at this top level.
The individual admins of these top level albums give individual rights rights to all sub albums of these top level albums that they administer.
I don't see how this same security model is possible with the "security integration" of mambo and gallery 1.5 at this time.

My question was how this security integration would be handled in version 2. My assumption was that with this new versions use of mysql it would better integrate with the mysql security of mambo.

regards Bart

In 1.5, administration inside Mambo is the same as outside of Mambo. The only difference is that you can't use accounts from inside Gallery... only the Mambo accounts are recognized.

In version 2, permissions are generally the same kind of layout. Albums and items can be administered in the same fashion.
