Howdy Folks,

Just upgraded Gallery from v 1.3.2-cvs-b9 to 1.3.3, all is working just great, except I'm having one little difficulty. Here goes....

1. I as ADMIN, created an album for a user, and set the owner of the album to the user.

2. Now the user uploads a bunch of photos into the album.

3. Now the user want's to create a new "sub-album" within their album, and move some photos from the main user album, into the sub-album.

4. When the user clicks on the "drop down menu" below the photo to MOVE it, a new window opens(where you as an admin can move photos).

5. In the "album" list, there is no option to move it into the "sub-album". Under the "new Album" drop down it just has listed: "<<Select Album>>

Do I just have a premission set incorrect somewhere? Or is this a "feature" currently with 1.3.3 so a user cannot move a photo from there main user album, to a "sub-album" residing inside the users main album?

Please advise.....

THanks for your help!

Does the user have write permission to the sub-album? Also, make sure you didn't miss it (it's usually at the very bottom of the list).

Joyoflinux,

THanks for the speedy reply! You say:

If the user logs into the gallery and enters there own album, which I as admin have set them to OWNER of that album, they can successfully administer everything within there own album, except move a photo to a "sub-album" which they created , within there main album. Add / delete/ resize/ rotate/ etc all works....

When this user first creates this new "sub-album" and then views the "Album Perms" these values are the following (I'll use my user for this example).

Owner: galford
Users that can see the ablum: EVERYONE
Change Album Text: galford
Can Add Photos: galford
Can modify photos: galford
can delete photos: galford
Users who can create "sub-albums": galford
View original sized images: EVERYONE

Where is this "write prems" you speak of? I didn't see anything listed like that either on the drop down menu under the "sub-album..... If CoRnFuSeD....

We'll get this.... It has to be so simple...

Don't worry about write access (i just mean modify/delete/add rights). Make sure that on the move photo dropdown menu you aren't missing the album (sub-albums can be at the *very* bottom). I just setup an environment like the one you described and my test user had no problem moving photos to sub-albums they owned.

I'm unable to reproduce this problem. I created album01, set its owner to user "foo". Then logged in as foo, created album02 inside it and moved a photo from album01 to album02 without difficulty.

Can you set up a test case on your site and post a username/password here so that we can see the problem happening?

bharat,

Sure I can setup an "test" account for you to play.

Test Album is located here: URL: http://66.221.143.80/gallery/GalleryTest

Album is named: "Testing Purposes Only"
Album owner set to: gallerytest

Test User Account LOGIN = gallerytest
Test User Account PASS = foo

There ou will see 2 photos I uploaded into "testing purposes only", and an album I created. I cannot move either of those photos into that sub-album "Test to move photos to this album"

Let me know your findings.....

Maybe somehow a "rebuild" command needs to be run to re-index the albums..... Remember I just upgraded. I did run the "Upgrade" command I got when I logged into the Gallery the first time as Admin, and choose to upgrade all albums at once...

THanks buddy!

Evening,

I see someone tried to make a new sub-album, but thats it, no photos got moved.

If I have to do a "reinstall" over top of the existing Gallery Installation, I'm not going to loose anything like albums or USER accounts am I?

Please advise...

If you don't touch your albums directory and you use the same version of Gallery (or a newer version) then you should not have any problems reinstalling.

I believe your problem stems from the fact that the "move photo" code tries to walk your album tree in order to find a destination to move your photos. When it encounters an album that it can't write to, it stops looking along that branch in the tree. So I believe that your permissions are set such that the "gallerytest" user can't write to one of the parent albums of the GalleryTest album (like "Personal Pilots", maybe?) and that's causing the dialog to fail. This is a bug .. would you file it in our bug tracker please?

bharat,

Yes you are correct in thinking the parent album is NOT writeable by the "gallerytest" user. The user account "gallerytest" is only set to album owner of "Testing Purposes Only" which is a sub-album of (in my case) "Private Pilots, which is set to owner by "admin".

I'll fill out a bug report, hope this gets "fixed" sometime soon. Its the only thing I can find wrong with v 1.3.3 as of yet.

Thanks for your help!

Quickie....

I looked on the "features &amp; bugs" page, then that took me to the "browse bugs" list on sourceforge. I don't see how to "add" a bug report to the list....

Please advise...

Thx,
JG

Don't hold your breath; we're pretty insanely busy right now so it'll be a while before we get around to fixing this. Sorry.

I have the same issue. I hope it gets resolved soon. I have 4 or 5 'sections' of albums, and then user sub-albums in those sections, and then they have the option of creating sub-albums within their sub-album. I don't see any way around that, unless I create a completely separate gallery for the users, apart from the other stuff. I'd rather not separate the galleries out, I have over 8000 photos now, it could turn into a large mess...

This feature worked pre-1.3.3, I believe.
