I think I Got there but when ever I goto ccgi.deanmrd.plus.com/gallery2
It will give me this message "Script is not executable. Issue 'chmod 755 filename'"
I've got kind of stuck right at the last part of the install
this is the part I am stuck on "cvs -d:pserver:anonymous@cvs.sf.net:/cvsroot/gallery login"

however, i moved it.
to your problem:
so you successfully completed all installation steps and when you finally go to main.php / to your gallery, you get this error?
chmod gallery2/ and gallery2/index.php and gallery2/main.php all to 755 with your ftp program

index.php or main.php, that's the same, index.php just points to main.php.
did you chmod the files and directories i told you to?

Hello there
this is what I am getting now
Script is group writable
I've chmod -r u+x index.php & main.php
when I tried to do this with the gallery it said that cannot access
u+x no such file or directory..
Now on the ccgi web site its saying
Script is group writable
I was confused when on the install info it told me to enter cvs -d:pserver:anonymous@cvs.sf.net:/cvsroot/gallery login Do I do this as you have have typed it or do I enter my own info?

anonymous cvs login doesn't require a password. when it asks for a password, just hit enter.
the scripts (main.php, index.php) needs to be world readable and the gallery2 folder needs to be world readable and world executable

How do I make it readable & executable. Real sorry the first time I had ever used My cgi server was to install gallery 1.5. could you be so kind as to tell wather I was use the right commands.
When I enter it for the first time anonymous cvs login that is I did type in a password but it timed out on me. after I relised that I had did it wrong and did it again and it still would not login

bingo I think we are there got the main install screen but it saying this
As a convenience to you, we've prepared a correct version of login.txt for you. Download that and copy it into your /files/home1/deanmrd/gallery2 directory and you're all set
is this on ther date base or do I upload it too cgi server?

ok, now you are in the installer of g2.
save the login.txt and upload it to your gallery2/ folder
cmon please, it isn't that hard. it's all described there. plus there's a README.html

Just to let you know that I've now sorted out my gallery 2 web-site I would like to thank you for all your help with this. I've got a back that I tuck from the old gallerys web-site what is the best way for me to restore this item to my gallerys web-site
