The known list of bugs in 1.5.2-RC1, and their statuses:

Fixed:

1.5.2-RC2-cvs-b14
- rar cmdline tool can only handle RAR.
--- NOT handled: 'cab', 'arj', 'lzh', 'tar', 'gz', 'bz2', 'ace', 'uue', 'jar', 'z'
--- Adjust text in upload form.
- Supported archives were not showed in selected box for url upload.
- AcceptableArchive() should be acceptableArchive()
- Dont extract content of rar archives with full path.
The results in problems when content files have spaces.

1.5.2-RC2-cvs-b13
- getLanguageAlias() was buggy,
but appeared only in some environtments in combination with Joomla! and/or Mambo.

1.5.2-RC2-cvs-b11
- When Magic quotes are on and Gallery runs on Windows,
\ in pathes in configwizard were erased.

1.5.2-RC2-cvs-b10
- Adapted init.php to fit with phpBB2 2.0.19
- Removed phpBB2 Patch, as it only would fit for a couple Versions.

1.5.2-RC2-cvs-b9
- search.php wrongly matches albums

1.5.2-RC2-cvs-b8
- Albumtree used not the url, but the name.

1.5.2-RC2-cvs-b7

- If user choosed "no caption" on upload, this setting was ignored.
- Removed deprecated Call-time pass-by-reference in watermarkform.

1.5.2-RC2-cvs-b4
- Added the two new help files to approved file list. They caused errormessages when gallery is embedded.

1.5.2-RC2-cvs-b3
- Added 2 new options for highlight and thumbnail quality. (instead of using fixed values)

1.5.2-RC2-cvs-b2
- In the micro-thumbnail navigation, going to the previous pictures is broken.

1.5.2-RC2-cvs-b1
- Call to undefined function: bindtextdomain()
This appears on installations where PHP has no gettext support.

Investigation in progress:
- Gallery Remote Java Applet upload doesnt work in Joomla! 1.0.4/1.0.5

Well I don't know if this is a bug or General Trouble shooting question so I'll place it here to see...

Deleted all the old files in my gallery, copied over the new 1.5.2 RC1 and run, I have the window Gallery needs Reconfiguration click on config wizard and it says:-
Fatal error: Call to undefined function: bindtextdomain() in
E:\Server\Apache2\htdocs\gallery\lib\lang.php on line 54

Deleted all the files, downloaded 1.5.1 re-installed those and I'm back to normal.

There's a bug in util.php to do with uploading pictures without a caption. The choices are no caption, filename, filestamp, and photostamp, but in util.php, there's only a switch for 3 of those 4, with both $setCaption == 0 and $setCaption == 1 resulting in a filename caption.

On line 1126, inserting:

Quote:
case 0:
$caption = "";
break;

fixes it... Thanks! :)

There are two bugs with Joomla integration (using Joomla 1.0.4):

1. Joomla's Component Installer doesn't recognize gallery.xml file until starting comments block removed from the file.
2. Albums sub-tree on the Gallery's front page links to "Albumname" instead of "index.php?set_albumname=Albumname...".

One more bug when trying to open window with photo EXIF data:

3.[error] PHP Fatal error: Only variables can be passed by reference in (...)/gallery/lib/lang.php on line 358

Joomla integration ...

Major problem since 1.5.1 (i believe), see also official bugtracker :

The upload applets don't work when being used in the embedded Joomla 1.0.4 / 1.0.5 environment.
On every attempt to upload a picture i get : 'Upload error: User cannot add to album'. Looks like Gallery doesn't pick up the Joomla login session or something like that. Please fix !

Arcnet:
This is a Gallery Remote Problem.
There is nothing _i_ can do about this, other then inform the coder of GR.

Joomla is the 'new' Mambo. The core-Mambo-developers have left Mambo because of some strategical conflicts. Now the best open-source CMS is called Joomla instead of Mambo ... The biggest part of the Mambo community has moved over to Joomla.

http://news.com.com/Open-source+split+of+Mambo+software+begins/2100-7344_3-5846006.html?tag=cd.top

It would be great if you could fix the issue !!

Hi,

same problem with the applets,
Joomla 1.0.5 with embedded Gallery 1.5.2,
Gallery Remote Applet: The Applet starts and then I get the error "Error: HTTP POST failed (HTTP 404 Not Found )"
After that I get "You are not allowed to perform this action" error when I try to use another upload funktion in the Upload window.
Same with the Gallery Remote (Mini) Applet- "Upload error: User cannot add to album".

My problem is with the Joomla Main Menu. It was first noticed with Joomla 1.0.4 and Gallery 1.5.1. It is still present with Joomla 1.0.5 and Gallery 1.5.2-RC1. When I select to display the Main Menu on ALL pages, it displays fine on the page for my Gallery.

I have some pages on which I do not want the Main Menu. I want to display the Other Menu. If I select specific pages on which to display the Main Menu (including my Gallery page), the Main Menu DOES NOT display on my Gallery page. As soon as I revert back to display on ALL pages, the Main Menu returns to my Gallery page.

FYI, after I upgraded both Joomla and Gallery, I uninstalled/reinstalled the Gallery Component, but no joy. I was hoping this problem would go away because I had read that 1.5.2 was coded to integrate with Joomla better.

I'm looking here for any help. I have also posted on the Joomla forum to look for help.

champion6, I had a similar problem some times ago and figured out that this is an issue with the register_globals settings of the Joomla/Mambo install.
I think your Joomla install has register_globals=ON (Backend - System - System Info), when you call Gallery from the Menu Gallery switches the register_globals=OFF for security reasons and the Joomla Modules lose their positions.
Make sure that Joomla and Gallery have the same register_globals settings.
To switch the register_globals off you can add the line

php_value register_globals 0

to your .htaccess in your Joomla root.

In my case the positions of the Modules/Menus are stored correct with this settings

Hi Tim - thanks for the reply. I have no doubt Gallery is working fine or else I would expect to see a lot of other people with the problem. I'm sure its something with my specific config, but 1.4.4-pl6 and all previous versions worked fine, so I was wondering if knowledge of what might have changed in the config wizard code point to where I should look for the problem.... any suggestion?

I have the same problem on my
Joomla 1.0.5/Gallery 1.5.1-RC2 :

Fatal error: Only variables can be passed by reference in /home/***/gallery/lib/lang.php on line 345

This error appear on every popup window (Send as eCard, Add Comment etc).
Only in embedded mode.

Lufa , Eliah:

i found something. It occurs only in special environments, where Gallery runs under Joomla/Mambo.
I think i fixed it in 1.5.2-RC2-cvs-b13.
You can test the fix if you download this version from jesse mullans snapshot page. (Link in Download section)
The fix is just in one file; lib/lang.php

Lufa: This is a 1.5.2-RC1 thread. Even if the bug is older, please upgrade before.

I haven't tried the new version, but in the code, it looks like there's still the bug where EXIF data gets stripped from resized images -- see http://gallery.menalto.com/node/26781, to which I've attached a tiny patch for 1.5.1, and which should be the same in concept for 1.5.2.

Update -- looked in CVS, and the problem is still there. Basically, the call to "resize_image" at this point should have "true" as the last parameter, or else EXIF information gets stripped from the resized image, and that's probably not what people want. (It's definitely not what I want.)

mattdm:

i talked to other devs.
We think its okay to strip exif data from thumbnails, highlights and resized versions to save space.

So we dont consider this as a bug and are not going to "fix" this for Gallery 1.x
