G1 1.5.3 in Joomla, popups: "init.php: Gallery seems to be inside Mambo, but we couldn't get the necessary info."

hello!

with Joomla 1.0.9 and Galler 1.5.3 I've a problem with popups.. I'm unable to open any popup in the embedded gallery. (via direct URL it works, of course)

Error in the popups:

init.php: Gallery seems to be inside Mambo, but we couldn't get the necessary info.

The URL's in config.php and configuration.php are the same.
Session Authentication Method in Joomla is set to Level 1.

JEESE... here it is DECEMBER, I'm having EXACTLY the same problem, Google comes up with all sort of stuff about it, but still no fix?!?!?
