This topic is a for users who have installed Gallery 1.5.4 and have specific bugs to report.
General troubleshooting questions do NOT go in this thread, and will be moved or deleted without asking or warning.

Fixed Version are available via SVN or separately from Jens' archive.

Once reported bugs have been acknowledged and fixed, the bug will be noted here, and responses will be deleted to keep the thread readable.

The known list of bugs in 1.5.4, and their statuses:

Fixed:

* Popups are unreadable (white color on white background). Occurs mostly when embedded.

* The Shadowframe is not working.

* Colorpicker does not work (broken link)

* If magic_quotes are ON and you want to add link e.g in summary or description you get problems with quoting.
For example: <a href="www.jens.de">Jens</a> got converted to <a>jens</a>

* Fatal error: Call to undefined function: _() in <path to Gallery>/classes/NobodyUser.php on line 27

* Preference for full-size or resized images does not work. (appears also in 1.5.2 and 1.5.3)

* eCard Preview does not work in embedded Gallery. (Appears in all previous Gallery 1.x with eCard support)

* Slideshow does not work when embedded in Joomla (appears also in Gallery 1.5.3)

After upgrading from 1.5.1 to 1.5.4, the picture size [normal] and [full] within the album does not work. Clicking on either retains the picture at the normal size.

The Album Properties links all appear (to me at least) as one long string of text. I tried changing the class in the css file that's referenced here but the changes do not seem to make any difference.

I am experiencing the same problem; apart from it being in one line it is not hyperlinked. Have you fixed this as yet?

Solved it, you have to click on the individual words and that is what seperates them and then they work

What I realised it was not a problem or bug. All I had to do was click once on the word and it displayed and worked properly.

There are still issues with album permissions in this version.

Some of my albums show all the admin "photo actions" drop down to unregistered users and I am Unable to modify Album Permissions for hese albums.

I had the same problem with 1.5.3 but the fix in this thread fixed it Unable to modify Album Permissions.

Hello,

Can you make me an testadmin account for your Gallery ?
If yes, send the info to me via email, or PM. I will have a look at your Gallery.
Also tell me the album.

To me this sounds like you set the owner can modify their items and the owner is everybody/anonymous.

And which phpBB2 Version do you use ? Also a link to your Gallery would be helpful.

I use last version of phpBB2: 2.0.21 with some mods. I have been using phpBB2 with Gallery1 integrated for 2,5 years. I have some modifications in Gallery as well, to limit upload size and KB.
It has worked well until last G1 upgrade from 1.5.3 to 1.5.4. (Well, actually - not everything is working well, the gallery has far too many pictures, and search, reorder and move don't work well any more. I will have to upgrade to G2 when phpBB3 + G2 works well.)
You can try a slideshow in one of the many albums, here.

I have tried different browsers, and now I have seen that the problems are related to Opera in Linux. It works fine with IE and Opera in Win2k and with Firefox in Linux (Ubuntu).

Hello IngerK,

Thanks for the update.
There is a known problem in 1.5.3+ with slideshow of G1 when embedded in Joomla.
We have no solution so far, but it seems its a cookie issue.
Maybe thats also the reason in this case... MAYBE.

Using G1 with over 41k pictures is ... cool ;)
But unfortunately beyond the purpose and capability of G1 ;-)

I know all about the limitations with G1/41k images... ;)
It was some problems with integration phpBB2/G1 (rewrite) and I expect lots of problems with links to G1-images in our forum. That's why I'm trying to wait patiently for phpBB3, I hope to deal with the links/integration problems only once. I expect G2 to work a lot better with several thousands pictures :-)

So I have 1.5.4 and love it. I was recently backing up all my stuff to move off the server for backup storage and I found that I have a couple hundred upload.xxxxxxx files in my temp directory. Are these needed? Can they be deleted? They are all in the range of 2060424 to 4800014 in size so if they can be deleted it would free up some space in my backup area and my actual live gallery too. Thanks!

Hello,

these files are indeed from Gallery and can be deleted.
They are created during the upload and should be deleted automatically after a successfull upload.
Can you check something for me, after you deleted them?

Do a new upload of one image and look if a new upload.xxxx files is created.

I am deleting them right now. Can the 0 byte files (galleryxxxx) in the temp dir be deleted as well? Can the whole dir be cleared out? :)

I will post shortly with a report on the new upload.xxxx test.

I test uploaded 3 pictures and none of them resulted in any new upload.xxxx files.
So can I delete the 0 byte galleryxxxx files too?

Awesome! Thanks for the super fast responses!

A new question now :)
Is there a way to make all my "original" full size images smaller? I see that there is a "Maximum image size" setting for resizing on upload and I will start using that but is there a way to make it retro active and change all the stuff that is already uploaded?

Hi,

this is not possible in Gallery 1.5.x.
Search for Becketts "myresize" that may help.

Gallery 1.5.4 in and Safari.
The pull down menus << Album Actions >> does not work.

All other pull down menus on the page work fine....

This looks like a problem with the way Safari handles the JavaScript. Firefox works fine.

Thanks,
Steved

Hi all

I have been having the problem as described above with Gallery 1.5 and 1.6alpha3. In Safari, all the drop down menu's work except the "Album Actions" drop down. Simply nothing happens when I click on any of the options.

I am using Safari 3.04 with Gallery installed on an Ubuntu Dapper installation.

Any help you can give will be invaluable, as I am not able to upload photo's at present!

P.S. site: www.suttonscorpions.co.uk/gallery
test account can be given upon request

Re: comments by DenMother and Rhyshardwick, i am also experiencing exactly the same problem!

The "Album Actions" drop down menu no longer works in Safari (V 3.1.1). I'm using Gallery v 1.5.7.

Safari still handles the "Photo Actions" drop down menu fine, but when you select any option using the "Album Actions" drop down nothing happens. However, the "Album Actions" drop down still works on a PC (Explorer, Firefox etc) and on a Mac, when using Firefox and Opera. The problem seems to be very specific to Safari and the "Album Actions" drop down menu alone.

Is there anything I can do?

We're working on a major gallery for a project launch and may have to postpone this if I can't find a fix (note: Gallery 2 isn't suitable for our requirements as you cannot restrict the permission of registered users to alter just the images they upload).

P.s. Site: www.dangerglobalwarming.com (direct: www.blacksmoke.org/gallery).

I will investigate a little deeper in this issue.

@G2: I really doubt that Gallery 2 does not offer this kind of permission.
