Hello, Everyone
My problem is with the album select module. My problem does not appear to be exactly like any of the ones that others have had with this module.
The exact problem is that the tree does not stay expanded when I navigate to a different album/photo. Unfortunately, the problem is inconsistent: it will stay expanded for a while, then it will completely close after a different album/photo is navigated to.
The options that I have chosen for this module are as follows (the items with "X" by them are items that I have enabled):
Tree
X Connect tree branches with lines
X Show folder icons
X Use cookies to remember which branches are open
X Show expand-all and collapse-all options
Only one branch within a parent can be expanded at the same time. Expand/collapse functions are disabled with this option.
I have not tested this on Windows yet, but on Firefox 2.0 and Opera 9.02 on Fedora Core Linux 6 I have this problem. I have deleted all my cookies, cleared all browser caches, all to no avail. I do "Shift | Reload" to force a fresh reload.
I do not have any Acceleration enabled, for registered users or guests. Almost forgot: I have all mentioned browsers set to accept cookies.
I have been using Gallery2 for months, and this problem did not start until about 1-2 weeks ago. Also, I updated from SVN just last night to see if perhaps this problem has been fixed.
I will try to get somewhere where I can get to a computer that has Windows on it to see how the above mentioned browsers, as well as Internet Explorer behave. The only reason I think this MIGHT be a Gallery2 issue is that the problem occurs on two different browsers. One other thing I'm going to try later is to make a fresh user account and try all of this there. That should show if the issue is located somewhere in my user account.
I'll get back to you later with what I find out.

I had a chance to see if I would have this problem with Firefox 2.0, Opera 9.02, and the current version of Internet Explorer 7 (all on Windows XP Professional) The result was that the problem exists on Windows as well: the Album Select tree does not always stay where I set it to. Just like in Linux, I tried deleting the cookies and cache, as well as "Shift | Refresh" to force whatever browser to re-download the page. All to no avail.
I'll keep you posted if I find out anything else.

I also found out that Galeon and Epiphany exhibit the same behavior.
Of course this could be an issue with my system and the cookies that it sends out. With this problem, their are two things that are in common: the installation of Gallery2 is the same, an the webserver is the same.
But, I will leave it to you experts to help me figure out if their is anything wrong on my end, and then what to do about it.
Have a Great Day,

Since you found out that it's a problem independent of the webbrowser, I'd stop spending time to test other browsers.
It must be a general cookie / server related issue, pretty much certainly a bug.
If you know JavaScript / php a bit, I'd really appreciate if you could further look into the problem in g2's code / the html / js code it generates.
If you think you already spent enough time on this (thanks¨!), please file a bug at http://sf.net/projects/gallery/ with the information you gathered.

Hello
I will definitely file a bug report. Even though my current abilities can't do anything more, I will look at the code. Who knows, I might learn something new. But I will file a bug report no later than Monday.

Hello I have found out the same issue in my customized theme.
But I can't find a solution.
Could someone point me out how to correct this defect of tree view?
Thanks,

Have anyone encountered this oddity with the tree album menu?
Is there any solution?
