any gallery ation causes download of index.php

I'm new to Gallery2 and I'm having some problems. I uploaded my first test image through the server and was using EXIF data embedded in the image for information. Now when I try to delete the image, it will only download a file called "index.php" that does not contain any code or HTML, only a blank file. This is true for all of the images I uploaded. Any function I perform in Gallery2 results in index.php being downloaded.

I should mention that I've been using Gallery2 with the Drupal module, but I haven't gotten any errors.

index.php/main.php download requests are symptoms of fatal php errors.
please check your webserver's error log.
