Inverse album and photo sorting

First off, forgive me if this has been asked a million times. However, a search didn't turn up what I was looking for.

What I'd like to do seems very obvious to me, but I can't seem to figure out how to actually do it. In Gallery 2, I'd like to have my most recent album be the first one seen on the front page, with my oldest album be the last one on the last page. However, within an album, I'd like the first photo to be the oldest one and the last one to be the newest. So, for albums, I'd like reverse-chronological, and for photos within those albums, I'd like chronological.

When I check though the options, it looks like I can achieve what I want by maually changing the sort for each new album as it's created to be chronological, while leaving the top-level sort reverse-chronological. However, frankly, that's a pain. :-)

Is there some better way to do what I want?

Thanks!

In your root album, select the sort order to be "Descending" based on "Creation date" (this will be under Edit Album option). Then, go into each album and select the sort order to be "Ascending" based on "Creation date", and click on "Apply to all sub-albums" so that if you have any sub-albums the same attributes will be applied automatically.

In future, when you set up new albums, you just need to make sure that you apply the Ascending sort order method, so that any items added will be displayed chronologically.

Indeed, that manual method does work, as I mentioned in the original post. My question was, is there any way to do this without having to manually make the change every time a new album is created?

i fully agree with jrmii...
always thought "why would anyone have any other sorting method (than the one jrmii suggests)"

Here's a semi-automatic way to achieve what you want.

Once your new albums are loaded, go to your root album and click Edit Album. Now click the Album tab, select whichever sort order you wish to use (I use Name, since my albums are all prefixed with a date in yyyy-mm-dd format and the images are all sequentially numbered), selecting Ascending, AND making sure that Apply to All Subalbums is checked. Click Submit. This will cause your root album and all your subalbums to be sorted in ascending sequence.

Now you need to select the sort order for the root album only, so repeat the process except select the Descending sort order and make sure Apply to All Subalbums is NOT selected. Click submit, and you now have your root album sorted Descending and all subalbums sorted Ascending.

My root album has no images in it and my subalbums only contain images (very flat hierarchy), so this works well for me.
