Pass login/authentication from ASP website to Gallery?

I have an ASP website into which I would like to integrate Gallery. (I'm not too familiar with PHP.) In the ASP website, I authenticate users by comparing their login credentials with information in a mySQL database. What would be the best way to auto-log them in to the Gallery app? I've looked at the HTTP Auth page in the Gallery Site Administration interface, but I'm at a little bit of a loss as to how to use any of that. Any suggestions would be much appreciated!

please search the forums for Java <-> Gallery 2 integration. you'll have to do something similar.

Failed to come up with anything useful.
Perhaps I could bother you to dig up a link to what you had in mind?
