Using Gallery2 database for login on other parts of site...

I have an "Admin" section of my site to allow posting of news/updates and a few other aspects of the site. I also have a Gallery2 embedded into my site design. The only users are people I add that I want to be able to upload images/manage gallery, but also use the same login information to login to the Admin section of the site. I don't care if somebody has to login twice, I just want the username/password to be the same.

I tried to just read the gallery database and create my own login script, but the MD5 hash isn't standard.

Is there any way for me to do this?? I have been searching for an answer all day.
