problem to make a little change

Hi, i want to change one sentence in a fr.po for a client..
I'm asking you how to have a "make" operational..

Because when i type "make fr.po" i've the folling problem : "error at first line in extract.php", if i type make alone.. It's the same thing.. "make -v" return the 3.81 version..

How can i solve my problem please..
