Improving Slideshow functionality in xtreme theme

Can anyone tell me how big of a job it would be to take the slideshow and individual photo page navigation from photo to photo that is in the ajaxian theme and put it into the xtreme theme? What I'm hoping for is to have the ajaxian functionality but the look and layout of the xtreme theme. Either have a "play" option that slides in front of the main image like in ajaxian or use the slideshow icon to launch it as is the method for xtreme. Just want to improve on the native slideshow.

Along these lines, is there a tute somewhere on adding a different slideshow into a g2 theme?

There are options like http://www.flashyourweb.com/article.php?story=mini_v2RC1 or revolver but to use that, it looks like I'd have to manually make a slideshow by putting in the url for every tag that I have. I'm wondering if there's a way to click the tag and have the slideshow automatically called.

I realize this is a bit of a noob question but thanks for any suggestions for a tutorial or an idea of how complicated it would be: is it no big deal or a huge project?
