It appears the Wordpress Auto upgrade feature is not correctly deactivating the WPG2 plugin prior to attempting to upgrade thus we are seeing a number of issues ranging from missing values (Gallery2 to WPG2 Relative Path Validate? - [Failure]) to extra orphaned WPG2 pages. I cannot stress enough please DEACTIVATE the WPG2 Plugin prior to attempting to use the Automatic Update..

If you are experiencing any of these issues please deactivate the WPG2 plugin, delete any WPG2 pages still left behind and reactivate the WPG2 plugin..

Something else of note is that if you had a symlink in your wpg2 dir to the gallery2/modules dir, you may find the gallery2's modules dir *missing* if you try to use wordpress 2.5's auto-upgrade feature.

I'm fixing my G2 from that flub now.

OUCH!! I have seen a few complaints about the auto-upgrade feature... For now it is use at your own risk...

Thanks ozgreg - I went with sexy and did the autoupgrade and got this error no matter what I did.
Validation Error: WPG2 plugin cannot validate the Gallery2 to WPG2 Relative Path /home/*user*/public_html/gallery2//wp-content/plugins/wpg2/templates/wpg2imageblock.tpl

I was afraid to deactivate due to past problems with Rewrites and such and it happened again.
Disabling the plugin and reactivating fixed the autoupgrade issue but then any links to my Gallery pages return this error:
"WPG2 Internal Page
Your Gallery2 Content will be Displayed Here.
If you delete this page, WPG2 will revert to linking directly to your Gallery2 main page."

Permalinks and URL rewrite had been turned off... and a new page is created in Worpdress with the link WPG and I have to start all over again and... I'm basically never upgrading again once I get this fixed :-)

snackmaster,

Yep that Relative link was wrong most likely it should have been ../wp-content/plugins/wpg2..

Can I get you to start a new thread about this issue as it is pretty offtopic for Relative Paths.. Also Can I get you to grab this plugin and activate it..

WPG2 has a large number of debugging messages which the Bluetrait View will pickup and Log.. This will help us track down this issue..

PS: You could have manually supplied this path in the G2 Paths Tab :-) But I should not mention that now!! :)
