I am completely lost. I added the plugin in gallery 2 to change the url path so i can have simple url's with links (.jpg) to add to forums and such. www.beachmonkey.com is my site. |

Nice site...
Did you install/activate URL Rewrite? If you did and it is activated, try uninstalling it and re-installing it, then Configure it with another option. Mod_rewrite doesn't work for me (I didn't try very hard) but PHP Path Info method does. Then, activate Permalinks. It should prompt you to activate it in the URL Rewrite module, too. You can activate other things in that URL Rewrite config, too.

Mod_rewrite and PHP Pathinfo are two different methods of accomplishing permalinks. For permalinks to work, URL Rewrite must be good and mod_rewrite and PHP pathinfo are the two available methods. PHP pathinfo is easier cuz it should "just work".
So: Go to Site Admin -> Plugins. If URL Rewrite and Permalinks are both green, you should be OK to enable auto-permalink and and play with permalinks.
Go here: http://codex.gallery2.org/Gallery2:Modules:permalinks Follow the order of the bullets in the Usage Guide and after you activate URL Rewrite click PHP pathinfo (instead of mod_rewrite). You'll know it when you see it. Unless, both are already green in the Plugins list, then you should be OK.
have a good one!
