Install plugins / themes manually

Is this right: to intall a theme / plugin / module not on Site Admin -> Plugins, but manually I just need to copy the downloaded and then unzipped folders of a theme into the folder “theme” of the Gallery installation or the unzipped folders of a plugin into the folder “module”. And then in the admin section of Gallery activate them. That is all?
