I would like to allow web visitors to upload images to a range of pre created albums.
We need to be able to gather their name and email address before they can do this.

Is this possible?

Hi vaisoco,

yes this is possible.
Just install the module register http://codex.gallery2.org/Gallery2:Modules:register. So the user has to register before he can upload images. One part of the registration is to give the name and an email address. If you choos the method "confirmation emails" you can ensure, the given email-address is a valid one.

Best regards,
Jens

Many thanks.
However I want each user to ONLY be able to post images into albums the admin creates. I dont want each user to have to create and post to his/her own album.

That is possible. You can adjust this to your needs with the integrated permissions.

The plan is to allow anyone to register and upload images to 5 categories. However we expect to have hundreds of registrations so I dont want to have to manually adjust individual user account permissions. Are you saying this is what I would have to do?

Finally isa there a facility to have the admin approve images before they go live?

You have been so helpul.
My most sincere thanks

@ moderation: http://gallery.menalto.com/node/48148 I have never used the module.
@permissions: set users to a group and give the group permissions to add items.
