Gallery won't sohw anything but an updater. Permission problem too???

Hi everyone, I'm sorry I can't provide specific version numbers and all that but maybe you can steer me in that direction. I've had my Gallery up and running for about a month now on a new host, MediaTemple, and have had no problems. I do have a couple years experience with Gallery but on different hosts, including my own mahcine. Anyway, everything is going great and then today I go to visit my site and Gallery decides to not work. I have a Drupal installation and I have gallery embedded into it. When trying to view the embedded gallery I get banner and menu from Drupal but the Gallery area is blank. When trying to access Gallery by itself it goes directly to the updater. I can't access anything else. Then on top of this, I can't get through the updater because it wants me to chown or chmod my data directory to 777. I've done that about three times now and it still tells me it cannot write to it. Anyone have any ideas I can try? I believe I'm using version 2.2. ~Jim www.project18726.com/gallery/ <----embedded |

Is there a versions.dat file in your g2data folder? is it empty?

That's all it says in there.
I have a second Gallery2 installation on the same host but in a different directory for testing purposes and I just thought to check it and it's doing the same exact thing. Coincidence?

I doubt it. The upgrader starts if it can't read the versions.dat file. Verify the path to the g2data directory is correct in config.php. I have seen where the host moves files about and does not tell the user.
