Hi, I though it easier to extract this out into its own thread. It was under a resolved thread and may have been missed....

1st post ------------------------------------------------

I have WPG2 3.06 and WP 2.5.1 (both updated the other night).

If I log into WP as Admin and click a wpg (thunbnail) link in one of my posts I'm taken as the Admin into my Gallery site. This is working as expected.

If I don't login to WP (unauthenticated user) and click a wpg (thunbnail) link, I'd expect to go to my Gallery site as an unauthenticated user (Guest?). Instead I stay within WP and get a blank entry page with "Sorry, no posts matched your criteria.".

The G2 permissions at the top of the gallery tree includes a "Everybody [core] View all versions" so any unauthenticated user can see all the photos. The direct links to the G2 URL's are ok, it's only affecting the one's that include the wpg2 processing (e.g. http://davidedwardsphotos.com/blog/wpg2?g2_itemId=6322).

Is this working as expected?

If so, can you point me to any info on setting up different types of identity mapping between WP & G2; Admin <-> Admin, WP_groupx <-> G2_groupy, unauthenticated <-> unauthenticated (Guest)?

2nd post ------------------------------------------------

I've even tried creating a user "guest" in WP. When checking the G2 Users in WP, I can see it's mapped to the G2 guest user. But I still get the WP "Sorry, no posts matched your criteria." page.

The page to check to see the issue is http://davidedwardsphotos.com/blog/2008/05/04/signtseeing-in-chennai-india and click on any of the pics in the text.

latest post ------------------------------------------------

I've been checking the HTTP access logs for my server. Basically the request to access the gallery page through the WPG2 link is returning a 404. I performed three steps; 1. entered my blog without logging in, 2. opened an entry with wpg2 linked thumbnails, and 3. clicked on a thumbnail to go to gallery.

Here are the HTTP access log entries...

1. Select blog link (http://davidedwardsphotos.com/blog)

3. Click on thumbnail to go to gallery (http://davidedwardsphotos.com/blog/wpg2?g2_itemId=6322)

122.107.253.249 - - [17/May/2008:01:35:03 -0500] "GET /blog/wpg2?g2_itemId=6322 HTTP/1.1" 404 12108 "http://davidedwardsphotos.com/blog/2008/05/04/signtseeing-in-chennai-india" "Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1.14) Gecko/20080404 Firefox/2.0.0.14"

Last GET is for the random image displayed in the sidebar of the "Sorry, no posts matched your criteria." page (i.e. the 404 page).

So the issue is the second last entry where the "GET /blog/wpg2?g2_itemId=6322 HTTP/1.1" is returning the 404. Any ideas?

David,

Please install WPG2 3.07 from this thread. I doubt if it will correct all your issues but it may resolve one.. Should you continue to have errors (and I expect you will because I think your peramlink rule is invalid) can you please install the Debug Log Viewer and post the log (or PM me it if you want)

Greg, that certainly fixed the issue I was seeing; the unauthenticated user in WP is going across to G2 and seeing the Guest view now.

I'm not sure what other errors you expect, but I will go and research the permalink stuff (I've got little understanding of it), and having a tool to understand the calls and where the code's going will be helpful in future (I'd been putting btev_trigger_error calls all through the code to try and figure out the flow and where it broke!).

EDIT - Do'oh, just read that the debugging IS the btev stuff. I'll keep it in mind for future.

Thanks!

Yeah the BTEV debug log is very cool, I have just about got a BTEV Debug in all the right places which gives me a very nice tool for support.. So is everything fixed? or you getting 404's still?

Damn, I must have been testing with something in the browser cache, 'cos when I tried it on my work machine yesterday arvo, the old problem was back. I made sure I'd cleaned out chaches and all other history from FF & IE, and the problem is still there. I've also since checked on my home PC, and the problem is back. So, what's next, turn on the BTEV tracing and send it through?

Yes please... That will tell me everything.. Please also visit the G2 Rewrite tab as BTEV will also log what permalink rules are active..

OK, will do. Unfortunately my site is still on php4 (I'm waiting for hostgator's upgrade to get around to my machine, which may be a few weeks) so the amount of info in the BTEV trace is of limited value. But I'll see what I can do.

EDIT - Where's the G2 Rewrite tab?
EDIT2 - Looks like I don't have G2 rewrite enabled. Will enable it when I get a chance.

Now that is interesting, this then is a pure wordpress permalink issue..

What is your permalink structure?

Common Settings: using custom structure of /%year%/%monthnum%/%day%/%postname%.
Nothing set in the Optional settings.

Yep that is pretty unique so no issues in that regard. You should see a BTEV Event when the output has been identified as belonging to the WPG2 Template.. If this entry does not exist in the BTEV log then the issue will be specific to Wordpress and may be either other plugin related or even theme related..

Anyway look at the BTEV log when you look at page -> http://davidedwardsphotos.com/blog/wpg2..

Here's the entry relating to wpg2...

Array
(
[type] => DEBUG
[date] => 2008-05-20 15:29:46
[source] => /home/davidedw/public_html/blog/wp-content/plugins/wpg2/wpg2.php
[file_line] => 114
[user_id] => 0
[ip_address] => 122.107.253.249
[event_id] => 9741
[event_no] => 8
[description] => Undefined index: wpg2_enablelightbox
[trace] => Backtrace is not supported in PHP4, please upgrade to PHP5.
)

I've just rerun it again (on another machine) and attached all the entries in the BTEV log. If you want the full entry, just tell me the event ID.

Bingo..

WP GET PAGE: 34 (34)

What I would have expected to see next was WPG2 PAGE TEMPLATE, what I am seeing is WP skipping the next line and thus why you are seeing the error message. I am about 95% certain you have a problem within your Wordpress Installation, either another plugin or your theme or something else that is causing this issue..

If you do not mind, can you please set me up a WP Admin Account and PM me the details, I just want to quickly check one or two other settings..

PS: Also Suggest turning off PHP Error Reporting.. Not required and you are going to get a heap of errors from Wordpress..

Must have. Although being cynical by nature (and in software support by trade) I suspect something has changed somewhere (no idea what) or the problem is one of those dreaded "intermittent" ones that needs the right planetary alignment to trigger.

Thanks for all your help.
