I use mu wordpress 1.5.1 (built on wp 2.5.1), wpg2 v3 plugin and gallery2.2.4. The mu wordpress install is located at http://rootsite.net and the G2 install is located at http://rootsite.net/photos. I am able to use G2 via the wpg2 plugin on my blog and i would like others to have their own G2 install. My mu wordpress install is in subdomain, like http://user.rootsite.net (i am not sure if this matters but in an effort to give as much info). I have an existing G2 standalone install but now i want other users of my blog to use G2 also. I think i can accomplish this with a multisite install?
If i am right in that assumption, then i have been looking over http://codex.gallery2.org/Gallery2:Multisite
I scroll down to the How to change a standalone G2 into a multisite heading and start reading

Quote:
Only if you really want to separate your existing g2 from the codebase, i.e. either move the codebase to another directory or move the existing installation to a new directory, only then you need to follow the next steps

As stated above, i want to make an existing G2 install into a multisite install, so i don't believe i need to do these steps?
So my question is where in this article do i start following these directions?
Step

Quote:
A) Keep installation in the folder where it is, but move the gallery2 files away to a more general directory

does not seem to be what i need to do. And Step

Quote:
B) Keep the codebase in the folder where it is, but move the existing installation into a new directory

seems to sound like i want to do. I am unclear on where i need to start following the directions. Could someone clarify?

Do you actually need to change anything with the existing install? It is ok to leave it as-is and also use that codebase to support other multisite installs.. just go to rootiste/photos/install/index.php and go through the installer, selecting multisite this time.. this will let you make other installs using this codebase, but your existing install will keep working too.
