Upgrader loop and general upgrade issues when installing 2.3-rc1

I know it's a release candidate but my gallery is gone-gone! At step 5 I head into trouble and I hope someone can help me out - this is what the upgrader "says":

If I skip stage 5 the upgrader just loopes to step 1 again...

Anyone with a clue on what to do?

Gallery version 2.3-rc1 - sorry but I can't access my system info...

Can you make sure that you uploaded all RC1 files and that the RC1 files overrode your older Gallery files? Usually strange problems like this occur when the whole package was not successfully uploaded or the files did not get overridden.

Feel free to try uploading the files again just to be sure.

@janbanan, was just wondering and I can't find it in the bug report, but what version of Gallery2 were you upgrading from?

I was upgrading from version 2.2.5, see system detail below.

Gallery version = 2.2.5 kärna 1.2.0.7
PHP version = 5.2.6-pl2-gentoo apache2handler
Webserver = Apache
