I installed Gallery Remote 1.5 on my two Vista SP1 machines. One is Vista Ultimate, the other Home Premium. I can't find any advice on how to get a clean installation that lays down executables, including jpegtran, imagemagick and Gallery Remote.exe. I've tried both the installation which includes the Java VM and the one without, with the same results. Any advice? Some details: I never had a problem when using GR under WinXP ... I appreciate any advice you can offer! |

Has anyone successfully installed on Vista SP1? What magic did you use to do it? I can install perfectly on my XP box, but my two Vista SP1 boxes don't install correctly (see post above). Please help!!!

Try Pix2Gallery2. Its kind of a Gallery2 port written in .NET, so it works fine in vista.

Unfortunately, I'm on Gallery 1. Haven't taken the time to see if transitioning to Gallery 2 would be worth the effort. I have customized Gallery 1 to the point that moving to Gallery 2 is a daunting task.
I was able to get Gallery Remote up and running by installing jpegtran and imagemagick separately, then creating my own Windows shortcut to Gallery Remote. Seems odd that no one else has reported issues installing GR on Vista SP1.

I had the same issue on my laptop running Viata 64 and spent an unbeliveable amount of time on this but have finally won against the machine.
I have a GR install on an XP box that worked perfectly so I did the GR install on the Vista machine (of course no .exe file) I then coppied the Gallery Remote folder from the XP box to the Vista machine, overwrote the files and ..... VIOLA!! Works like a champ.
Just make a shortcut of the GalleryRemote.exe to the desktop for easy launching & make sure you do the Java & ImageMagick install and edit the im.properties file.
Sort of a kludge but it worked for me.
Cheers!
