Right now I'm running G2 on a Linux Server, but I have to link to it from a Windows server at a host that I hate. Their support is horrible and I don't have the spare database to use. Firstly: Has there been success in running G2 on a windows server and secondly, does anyone out there know of a really good Windows Host???

Thanks,

Andrew

There are specific instructions for Windows.

Yes people have done so. It seems those are the most successful have full administrative control over the server. If it's a shared server, good luck. You will have to get your host to change permissions for you and you will have to check with them ahead of time if ImageMagick or NetPBM is available if you don't want to use GD.

There isn't a shared Windows host I know of that I'd suggest. IMO and in my experience, Windows makes for a very poor web server for a shared hosting platform. It's great and fine if you control the server, but if it's a shared host, I can do more on my very restricted shared host linux box than any user can on even a very open shared Windows host. Linux/FreeBSD, etc are just way better suited for some tasks than Windows is. Just as Windows is better suited for other tasks.
