What is best way to update many images?

I am updating many photos that already exist on my website. Captions may have changed on some of them. (I use the EXIF module to assign IPTC info to description field during upload.)

For example, let's say I have xyz.jpg in an album and I've made changes to its caption and updated the photo. How can I upload that file so it overwrites the existing xyz.jpg? Currently, when I try uploading the images, it creates a new image xyz1.jpg which is not what I want.

I was able to do this in the past using WebDav where I just dropped the files into the folder where they were overwritten, but now I no longer have that feature.

As far as I can tell, the Reupload module only does one image at a time and it also retains existing caption info.
