Hidden album - prompts guest user for login details when accessing via permalink

I've just posted this here but now starting it as a new topic because the previous poster had their topic resolved.

I'm using a fresh install of Gallery2.3, and although the bug in the link above is supposedly fixed, I'm experiencing exactly the same problem as described in the bug tracker.

Using gallery URL rewrite module:
- permalinks work fine without the album being hidden,
- the album hidden works fine without using the permalink,
BUT
- when I try to access a hidden album via a permalink, I am prompted for login details.

Does anyone know how to get around this problem? Should I be filing a bug report?

I have the same problem. I have to not use permalinks (instead go directly to the hidden album /v/dogs/mydogfluffy).

I also have very same problem, can anyone shed some light? (it was working ok in 2.2.5)

So they need to first visit the album/item through the "normal" (non-permalink) first, then the permalink will work.
