Hi, I think I've been awake for about three days, so forgive my general inability to articulate *s The last time I slept, I awakened with the grand idea that I should separate my ever-growing website into two sites. I jumped up; purchased a new domain; bought hosting for two years for both sites; and found the wonder that is Gallery2. As a photographer, Gallery2 was the best discovery of my day. Except I've spent every waking hour trying to learn this "user-friendly" program . . . Back in the '80s, I learned to hard-code early HTML. It was ugly, but I had one of the first literary journals on the 'web—and it's alive, to this day. More recently, I finally began trusting a WYSIWYG editor. Along the way (over the last dozen years), I picked up skills as a photographer. My "little sideline" boomed into a much larger business than expected. Now, I need a place to not only showcase, but protect my photos. They're very often stolen, from my current site, and watermarking is not the most odious of solutions. Gallery2 and I have been sitting down for hours, each day, trying to get acquainted. It's been miserable. Just processing all the information for this very high-level program has been extremely draining. One day, I'm certain I will want to kiss you all *s I have the uploader. That's great. Several albums of photos are now on my site, and in Gallery2. Okay. Now. Why can't I move the albums from the placeholder called my "main page"? I've not changed the standardized text on that, so as to reference it more easily. I've looked through some of the other fora topics here, and am completely uncertain what it means to build a home page. Even in the event I were to copy and paste one, where on earth does one save such a thing? I've not found that feature, in Gallery2—the magical portal to which things are added, other than photos. Basically, I'm trying to build an index page. It needs to have a directory, with links to all my other albums/galleries. Each of the other pages need to link back to the home page. Yes, I did read the answer as to how to create a button. No, I don't understand it. I may weep. Or laugh. Depending. Thank you for your help. Oh, my current site is http://www.dustjacketpress.com/Dust Jacket Press, where you'll see I have two ports of entry, and far too many pages. N.B.: Please don't view my photography, if you are offended by photos of the human body *s Thanks again, ~Emmanuela |

Hi Emmanuela,
It's really not clear what you're asking.
Where were you hoping to move the albums *to*? All Gallery albums must exist inside other albums except for one, the root album - the top level, that's created when you install the software. Presumably that's what you mean by "main page". If so, you can't move the albums "outside" that album. All albums in Gallery branch off from the root.
To integrate your Gallery with other pages of your website, you might want to look at the following link:
FAQ: How can I integrate G2 into my website?
G2 is only user friendly at the very simplest level. It's powerful and configurable but requires a fair amount of knowledge to make the best of it.
The forthcoming Gallery3 will be smaller and simpler, and the first release is expected in a few days. It may suit you better.

Thank you.
The files on reading PHP are useful; it's rather like symbolic logic, and I think I can grasp it, eventually.
What I wasn't understanding is that several of the features are seemingly incompatible with Mac OS X: I was looking to just "drag and drop" pages
. . . that's not going to happen.
Still, Gallery is a tremendously seductive application.
Thanks for the head's up on the new release. I've downloaded it, and will give it a go.
