I am considering using Gallery 2 but want to confirm that all text (titles/ captions etc.) will be in html and therefore searchable by robots/spiders. Help would be greatly appreciated. |

I looked at my pages and my individual image pages don't include those tags indicated by oceco.
The only tag I show is the title tag.
Since most of the sites I work on are business related, it is not a good idea to spend time/effort for pages that can't be properly indexed with useful info (not a critcism - it could be my install) .
I am trying to find out if I need a particular mod to get full tag implementation. Any pointers to relevant info would be appreciated.

Hi tkdgr
First you make a statement based on the experience you made with your installation and the next step is to check if your installation is not properly configured. For me this is simply a strange order of priorities.
Whatever you enter in an elements property tab named "General", i.e. title, keywords, description will be written to the appropriate <meta>-tags in the html-page! There is no module necessary to get this!
BTW: My two postings in this thread represent pointers to relevant info!

Thanks for the input. (... I guess, even if it was nothing more than a criticism of my post, repeated links - one not in english - and simply repeating 'they would be there', instead of something helpful.)
Unfortunately, I needed a quicker and more simplified explanation than combing through a quickstart guide.
As far as the order, I was merely stating the possibility of there being a hiccup in the install. I did not encounter any problems installing but you know how these things can be sometimes. Anything is possible. As it was, everything with my install worked fine and everything is going ok. except for the description and keyword meta tags not being implemented.
In researching the issue, I have seen posts indicating they wouldn't be there, and your post indicating they would be there. Rather than figure who is correct, I figured I would just find a solution, regardless of the cause.
So.. back to point. I was able to find exactly what I needed so came back to post the link for anyone looking for the same fix.

The post date concerned me but I gave it a go and everything is fine now.
See ya.

You know.. I just looked at that original post when the page refreshed.
This guy wasn't even asking about meta-tags.. just if the page was being rendered in html. I suppose it's natural we both took it as meta tags but I don't think that was the intent of the original Q.
So.. to that Q.. yes. From my limited review and experience, it appears each photo album and page is indeed rendered in html and you can review by going to your album and image pages and 'view page source'.
If you are concerned about search engines, be sure and activate the 'url rewrite mod'. I don't recall exact mod name but it's part of the most recent install. I can't speak for previous versions.
Also, depending on your luck with key word and description meta tags being properly implemented, you might need to visit the site I included in previous post.

Would you pls give me an older reference than this one:
?
To what else do you wanna transform
to make them
than meta-tags? The title / caption (description) is displayed on a Gallery2 page by default unless the user decides to turn it off.
The link text already indicates that the link leads to a German page. That's because I answer the majority of the questions in the German forum. Are you sure you wanna blame me on that? If so, show me how I can switch my signature based on the forum language!
They are there by default like humans do exist! It can't be simplier!!!
Because I've integrated Gallery2 in Wordpress I had to turn off URL-Rewrite in Gallery2. I didn't experience any bad impact on Google. My primary focus pages are in the top ten.
