I'm interested to join your team to translate Gallery to Traditional Chinese (Big5) but I have no experience before.
I am a HK user & I hope my Gallery with Traditional Chinese interface too.

Hi Jens,
I have a full translation file of zh_TW-gallery.po based on 1.4-RC1. you might want to add it into CVS before 1.4 release:

The po file also changes some header information.
BTW, the Chinese word behind "Chinese (Traditional)" is not quite correct. I see both in this link http://gallery.menalto.com/modules/GalleryDocs/g1/tools/g1-report.php and the nls.php file from gallery source files. It should be read as "Chinese (Traditional) (

Maybe you can download 1.4-rc3-cvs-b6 (not officially committed !!) and update it ?
I changed the word.
I dont know what it means. Does it mean "Chinese Traditional" ?
If yes, should we delete the english ?

Hi,
I only see daily/current.gallery.tar.gz in nightly builds (link here: http://jpmullan.com/galleryupdates/daily/current.gallery.tar.gz). and the file's timestamp is 08-30-2003 03:12:01 AM. After extract this tarball, I check the Changelog and it marks as "1.4.1-cvs-b44
" at the file header.
Is this what you meant "1.4-rc3-cvs-b6" or not? Since you said 1.4-rc3-cvs-b6 is not officially committed yet, I assume that it was not possible to get it from the CVS repo of gallery. If not, where can I find one copy of 1.4-rc3-cvs-b6 files? I am fully willing to complete this translation work before 1.4 release!
For the naming question: We usually say Traditional Chinese (

Are they still fuzzy ? Or are they correct and you just didnt remove the fuzzy comment ?

My bad... the "fuzzy" words are bogus. I forgot to delete them after finished translation. You can just wipe them out.

I don't think that "¥¿Å餤¤å" is a wrong traslation. This term is getting popular to represent Traditional Chinese. I think "

A new update po for 1.4.1 is in the same link:

But for zh_TW.utf8, I tried to use iconv -f BIG-5 -t UTF-8 zh_TW-gallery.po, to create a new utf8 version depends on big5 one. Unfortunately it failed after executing make_po_files.sh. How could I update this one (utf8)? Please tell
me if I can help.

if you are interested to help completing the zh_TW language pack, i think Jens will be more than happy. =)
btw, the files gallery read are actually those .mo files. have to compile .po to .mo first.

Probably this has been asked elsewhere: Are there any instructions on compiling .po into .mo? I noted some translation errors (gramatical) in the language file but couldn't correct them... :roll:

Quite simple: from the po/ directory under your gallery, run "make_mo_files.sh -po zh_TW" (provided you use *nix or Cygwin). Full explanation is found under dev docs, G1 Translation Related Documents.

i have translated all the things except some using in the debug mode

請問該如何解決Gallery 2.1.1a 日期時間的亂碼問題呢?
時間是Big5 但預設是UTF-8所以會有亂碼
用的host空間是免費註冊 不是自己架的
所以 沒法改php的設定
好像很多人都有同樣的困擾...
如果沒好的解決方法 能否在下一版 日期時間乾脆不要中文化了呢

If your host doesn't provide locales in UTF8, there's really not much anyone can do with the default formats. But you can still construct your own format with php format strings. The link provided in that section has explaination on how to construct a php date time format. For example, you can set the date format to "%Y年%m月%d日" (without the quotes). You don't get the nice full month names in Chinese, but it does give you a localized date string.

Add this in config.php before the ?> at the end:
putenv('TZ=Asia/Taipei');But it seems to be slower 54~55 minutes than the real GMT time.
It's April-29-20:17 now.

That has nothing to do with PHP. Just pick the language you want to be the default from the menu.

If I would like to change some texts of the zh_TW translation, how could I do? Or should I just post them here?
For example, 640乘480 is a little strange. In my opinion, 640x480 would be better and it is the most usaual way to show resolution in Taiwan.

did you replied to my problem mindless? sorry i cannot express myself very well in english. i don't have freebsd or so and i wonder wether there is yet a simple way for me to change just serveral words in the existing chinese language pack.
i tried to directly modify the .po files and overwrite old files but nothing happened.
