I know that the program allows you to upload multiple files but is their any other way to upload so a folder of 50 images with out having to browse to them individually?
upload as a zip file, and/or use the Add Items module to add a file or files (or a zip archive of files) from the server's own filesystem after ftping them.

Upload a zip file?
Then what?
To what directory?
I uploaded two files to the gallery folder of my album but i don't see them when viewing the gallery. Only the two files that I uploaded the normal way.
I want to upload multiple files and have them display the same way it would if i uploaded them using the upload image functionality. I don't want to have to pick each file individually.
Thanks again.

I think the instructions here are reasonably comprehensive: in general you can upload a zip file which will automatically be expanded (optionally with folders that will become sub-albums) anywhere you can upload a single file. http://codex.gallery2.org/Gallery2:How_to_Add_Items
