I attempted to upgrade to 2.3 today - I did not get any error messages, but it's still telling me I need to upload. Also, today, I went through all my galleries and used the "Define picture size limit" to resize everything to 800x800. That appeared to work too. But the disk space taken up by my gallery has become huge! It's at 3967.14 Meg. Unfortunately, I didn't note the disk space before I started messing around, but I know for a fact it wasn't that big - my *entire* disk space usage on my server was about that high. Does either updating or bulk resizing create a bunch of junk data somewhere that I can go clean up? If the upgrade failed with appearing to have failed, could there be some crap from that hanging on somewhere? If so, where? Any other advice? Thanks for any help! Gallery install details: |

Er, that should be "but it's still telling me I need to upgrade," of course. And the "it" telling me so is Fantastico.

A couple other things that might help - when I upgraded, it coughed briefly at the fact that I'd replaced the logo images with my own files, but it seemed to work fine despite that.
And when I resized all photos in the gallery, it caused some errors (which I didn't note ... ) the first couple of times - I assumed it was because the galleries I was trying to edit were too big, because it later worked fine when I did every subalbum one at a time.
I think either of those could *potentially* have caused some huge error files to be sitting around somewhere, but I'm not sure where, or how to find them. I've cleared all the caches (except derivative).

Sorry don't know much about fantastico, so can't offer anything there.

Well, I guess I figured it out. fantastico automatically creates a backup zip file of the gallery when attempting to upgrade and places it in /fantastico_backups in the root. Kind of hard to troubleshoot, because cpanel's disk space analyzer doesn't show that directory, for some reason! So once I deleted the backup file I had enough space again.
Unfortunately, I don't think you can opt to not create a local backup of gallery before upgrading in fantastico, so I may be out of luck. I tried upgrading again after deleting the backup - it still *says* it succeeded, but afterwards it still tells me I need to upgrade and reports 2.2.2 in system info. There may be a bug in either the fantastico upgrader or gallery itself that's reporting a false positive upgrade status, since I think it can't upgrade if the entire disk space is full of an obnoxious backup file.
Anyway, gallery's working fine and I have spare disk space again, so I guess I just won't upgrade. Booooo.

It might have upgraded.
You have to use the run now link in system info for it to refresh.

I would try a not fantastico upgrade then.
