Hi. Briseis09 here.
I've looked at all the other Forum Questions and Answers and couldn't find what I was looking for.
I really only need one or two questions clarified because I'm confused.
1. Does Gallery 2 need to be installed with HTML/Website or Webspace or does it need to be coded into the Computer's DOS System? I'm not exactly Computer Savvy, so I'm not really sure how this all works.
2. Do you have to know lots of HTML? I know very little, but totally am not into coding and such.
I mean I can get around, but I am also not all computer literate. I know the VERY basics, but I am willing to learn and try things. And ... I am just confused by everything that is written here. Whether this is for DOS or HTML Pages.
That's all.
Please let me know.
Thank you kindly,
Briseis09

Gallery needs a webserver to run either on your home computer or a host.
http://codex.gallery2.org/Gallery2:Installation_Requirements
Not at all. Unless you want to do some customizations then having html knowledge is helpful.
Do you have a website now? Hosted or your own computer?

Hey, Floridave!
Thank you so much for your help ...
I don't have a website, but I do have something called webspace that my internet provider includes in our contract. I have tried it out and basically, it is just for HTML Pages, so that it would act as a reader for the pages. I do have my own computer. :O)
Third question, because I did read about it, while reading about Gallery 2:
3. I have a WordPress Blog and I noticed that you can use it on WordPress, but would that be alright and how would you integrate it? I guess I will have to read up on it at WordPress too, then? But ... I am not hosting my own Blog; I am on a network of Blogs with WordPress.com and not WordPress.org.
I would really love to use this program. Gallery just seems like so much fun and I have seen my other Friends use this program; it just seems like a great photo program. I'd like to be able to connect with Family overseas and let them browse photos of us, since we don't get to see each other often.
It just would be cool. I hope I find a way to understand everything. I will read more.
Please let me know.

Hey, Dave!
I understand hosting means having your own domain and actually generating traffic on your OWN Blog, like on WordPress.org; where you download and install WordPress to your computer.
I KEEP a Blog at WordPress.com, but I do have a domain name. Is that the same or is it different? Would it still be hosting or am I just keeping a Blog?
This will be my last inquiry. If it isn't the same, then I will stop all attempts here.
Thank you so much for your help! You've been wonderful! :O)

Do you pay for hosting? If not then no gallery is not for you.
What is your donmain name? If it is similar to:
http://floridave.wordpress.com/
then no, you are just keeping a blog. Use the WP gallery feature or http://www.flickr.com/

Hey, Dave!
I did pay for my domain name, but I think I am still keeping a Blog.
My Blog is:
http://toplutowego.com
But ... I am still on WordPress.com, because I still am able to search others Blogs and Friend them. Also, if you click that, it just redirects back to: http://briseis91.wordpress.com .
What is WP Gallery Feature and could you link me to that, so I can read about it? Thank you. I will also check out Flickr as I have an account on there too.
Thank you again. :O) If the gallery thing doesn't work out, then it is okay. Maybe, in the near future, I will come back and learn to use this, because I am wanting to host my own Blog sometime soon, but I just need to read about that too, which I am working on slowly. Got most of it, now just need some buckaroos. Hahah! :O) Thank you, Dave!
Lots of Loves & Tons of Huggles,

Have a great weekend.

Hey, Dave!
Thank you so much for all your help. It has been greatly appreciated.
I've already read some documentation here on Gallery for WP Gallery/Gallery2 and it looks like I'm definitely at a dead end, unless, of course I start hosting my own Blog.
I will come back, when and if, I do decide to host my own Blog and if I've got enough buckaroos to do so. Will definitely keep Gallery as an option.
I'm going to look into Flickr, as per suggested, and see how I can integrate it into my Blog.
Again, thank you so much. No need for another response to my other reply.
Have a great weekend and hope all is well.
