I'm new to Gallery, but I really like its features... Though I'm too stuipd to figure them out.
Basically all I need is for users to be able to visit the site, and click on whatever album they want to view (the website is a scouting organization, so I'd like to have albums on the first page of different evnts, then they can click on the event and view the pictures).
This is pretty much all I need... I don't need all the fancy features and such.
I've tried adding multiple albums via Site Administration, but I get an error:

Pretty much says it all. You are trying to either create an album that already exists, or more likely since Gallery is throwing an error that the album doesn't exist, yet you are trying to create it and the directory already exists. Did you try creating directories manually under /g2data/albums? If so, don't. In fact, there is no need to ever touch anything under g2data unless directed to by Gallery support or unless you are backing something up or something needs to be fixed, but for general operation and use, g2data never needs to be touched, looked at or even thought about.
Creating albums in Gallery is easy. Just login, then click on Add Album on the left hand side.
Though you may want to look at:
http://codex.gallery2.org/Gallery2:How_do_I_secure_Gallery2
It's suggested to not have g2data under your webroot.
