printing outside gallery's smarty

Hi,

Short question. I've embedded gallery2 using "sample_embedding_wrapper". Now I would like to save some smarty code output into a var so to be able to display it outside a .tpl. It's this peace specifically:
{g->block type="core.Pager"}
If there's documentation that explains this, a link will do just fine.
