Various versions of Gallery

I am considering using Gallery for my Website but am perplexed by the number of versions: Gallery 1, Gallery 2, Gallery 3. Any recommendations? I will be displaying both static images as well as video. (I assume Gallery supports video?) My Webhost is currently using Gallery 2.3. Many thanks! |

You want Gallery 2 for now. That's the current, stable and supported versions. No further development will probably occur with Gallery 2, unless there is a security issue. IOW, no new features. But, most supported release right now.
Gallery 1 is dead, no longer supported, no longer developed.
Gallery 3 is going to be the latest and greatest but is still in development and should not be used in a production environment.

G1 is not really dead but has been forked by the last developer to http://jallery.com/ See: http://gallery.menalto.com/last_official_G1_releases
It (G1) is really only for people that can't/don't want database setups.
As stated go with G2 for now for production sites.
