Hi, I had to change hosts, and as I was kicked out from my last hosting provider for having too many files, I decided to change my separate installations to a multisite installation. I set up my first gallery from my backup, it worked, and than I upgraded from 2.2.4 to 2.3. When I now wanted to install the next gallery, as a component of the multisite installation, I ran into a problem. I went through the install procedure to a point, which said that I am using an older version, so I need the upgrader. When I started the upgrader in the third step it complains about the wrong permission of a folder containing the previously installed and upgraded gallery. How should I proceed? Install the gallery separately, upgrade it, and than reinstall it as a multite? Or is there a simpler procedure? Please fill out the following form and take a look at the linked pages. And you'll probably need to follow this or at least review it:

Yep, "unlimited" does not really mean "unlimited" ;) Though I've heard reports from people having huge numbers of files on Dreamhost.
But I included that info in case it helps at all. If you run into any problems following those steps just ask.
I think what I would try doing is getting the standalone versions running, either on your new site or a local computer (running the same operating system, so Linux if using Linux on the server), then changing to a multisite. Granted I've never gone from standalone to multisite (or even installed a multisite for actual use) so I'm just going by the cursory glance I had at those instructions.
