Should I use Gallery 2 or Gallery 3?

I consider to integrate Gallery to my project.
Gallery is responsible to store images of members

Gallery API is applied to show images in my application, the member can also save/delete photos from my application to the Gallery
The API would also responsible for the member registration

I know Gallery 3 is up coming product and the development of Gallery 2 will be terminated. I prefer to use Gallery 3 for my project.

May I know whether there is API for the current version of Gallery 3?
Also, do the Gallery 3 have member registration module?

That said. Production site? Need it now? Use G2, period, end of story. If you can wait awhile (don't ask how long, it's done when it's done), then try G3, but as bharat already stated, it "may eat your lunch"

G3 is going to be easier to customize and uses a completely different template system, so any work you do on G2 to make it look like the rest of your site will have to be re-done when upgrading to G3, though standard themes may get ported (over time) but that's up to the devs and the theme guys.
