Color shifting in images...?

We're having a pretty serious issue with color-shifting between our post-processed images and the images being displayed in Gallery 2.3. The uploaded images are significantly and noticeably color-shifting. Any ideas as to why this might be happening or, more importantly, how we can fix it?

Thanks!!! :)

CMYK?

Try uninstalling both GD and NetPBM and getting ImageMagick working and enabling the CMYK option in Site Admin > ImageMagick

Note, you may not have that option depending on which version of IM is installed on your server and even possibly how it's configured. For example, I don't have that option at my shared host (ImageMagick 6.5.1-2), but I do at my VPS where I just finished setting almost everything up (ImageMagick 6.3.7). Yes, a slightly older version of IM, but that's what's in the current, stable repository for Debian 5.0 and it support CMYK.

No, the images are being exported in RGB. The problem, I think, has to do with the fact that we shoot (and post-process) in AdobeRGB (1998). I've run a few tests, and it seems to be some kind of strangeness dealing with Photoshop and sRGB. The solution seems to be exporting in sRGB, even though there's a slight color shift when converting from AdobeRGB to sRGB. That colorshift is a lot less than the oddness going on when we upload to Gallery, so I suppose that'll have to be the solution for now.

Any other suggestions would be welcome. I'm trying to keep the images looking 'true' to color... sheesh...

This still stands:

They looked fine to me :D They're going to look different on every single monitor they are displayed on. I'd be very surprised if you get even 1 single visitor every couple of years that even has a color calibrated monitor, let alone a client.

This might help as well:

but you still have not told us what image toolkit you are using.
please post a before and after image for comparison.

It's all to do with colour management and the type of monitor you have. Best use a colour managed browser. See
