First of all, Thanks for reviewing and assisting with my... issue!

I admit, I think I am a little over my head here, and I have been accused of over thinking things from time to time, so, maybe this is simpler than I realize…

Basically, I am using Gallery with a WEB site for a Photo artist to display her work.

It is intended to be a place to display her work where people can come to see the photos, maybe make comments… that’s about it.
Other than owner maintenance and management of the galleries, no one other than myself and the artist will need to have any more access than to view the photos, so I think I am talking about a rather simple setup.

Now…

Although I am in the computer and systems industry, I only know enough about WEB design to make myself dangerous. I am learning… But I am “not a Jedi yet”, as they say.

I have read the online docs about Integration of the Galleries with my WEB site but what I am reading does not seem to be what I envision happening. What this comes down to is: “Can I…” and “Will the program do…”

Basically, in my head, I see a website of my design with a page, for example, of 6 galleries, each with a title and a sample thumb-nail. A hyper-link on each of the 6 gallery items would take the user to one of 6 separate Galleries setup in your Gallery system. From here the user would be able to use the standard Gallery tools to view the Pics in that gallery, selecting some kind of “Back” link when they are finished. This would take them back to the page they were at before, where they could choose another gallery.

To me, this seems simple: Set a Hyper-link on each thumb-nail to the Gallery in question, make sure there is a way to get back, and it’s finished.

The Integration options I have read about seem to suggest that you can set your Gallery software collection of Galleries into a page that matches your WEB site’s look and layout so that it becomes, but will then have the list of Galleries from the program, rather than arranged the way I want on my WEB page. (I’ll admit, I’m a little unsure about the cutting and paste of code from one file to another when I don’t really know what the code says or how to fix it if it does not work.).

Sorry if this all sounds like Blah Blah Blah… Rather than try to explain myself better, let me know if this makes sense or if further clarification is needed…

Thanks

Install it and try it out :)

Check out my gallery for a basic, bland, out of the box install with the Matrix theme.

Read this about editing templates:

Read this:

Check this out:

Along with demos of tons of different themes (you can choose other themes to work with by selecting it at the top of the page)

Just so you know, version 2.3 is probably the last version of G2 with any enhancements. The developers are working hard on G3 which will have a completely different template system, but hopefully be easier to customize.
