[Permalink] short url doesn't show automatically

Permalink works on my site, but when I navigate to the page by clicking through the album pages, I still see the big messy link instead of the nice short permalink. Is this normal behavior?

Ex: http://herringimages.com/gallerytest/v/Clients/MingsWedding/ is actually http://herringimages.com/gallerytest/f/Affinito.

Yes, that is normal behavior. Permalinks just provide a URL that's permanent, shorter maybe, but permanent so you can rearrange stuff into different albums, but the link remains the same. It does not change browsing navigation.

That line should probably be taken out from http://codex.gallery2.org/Gallery2:Modules:permalinks. It is misleading given what you have written. Glad to know it is working as intended.

I've updated that section of the page and edited a bit more to make it a bit more friendly.
