Odd problem... Upgraded from 2.2.5 to the current 2.3 version But when I click on "go to my gallery!", I see my normal matrix theme and all my albums, BUT no pictures anywhere. There are links to the pics, and all my files are in place in the 'g2data' folder, but no images show up at all. The gallery looks perfect except for the lack of images. I re-uploaded the 2.3 package and re-ran the installer (again with "success") but still see everything EXCEPT images. When logged in as admin and look at my current version, I see this: "Gallery version = 2.2.5 core 1.2.0.7" Here's what I've done so far: 1) Put gallery into maintenance mode 2) Made sure recommended file permissions are in place 3) Looked through the 2.3 faq's for my problem 4) Searched the forums, but when you look for different combinations of--- upgrade, no images, stopped working, and so on, you get many close and also not-so-close results 5) Put a phpinfo file in the gallery directory at: http://mockster.net/gallery2/php_info.php 6) Inside config.php set error reporting to "true" but I don't know where to look for the gallery generated error reports. In my webserver's raw error log, though, I did find MANY "File does not exist" errors like this one: [Tue Jul 14 21:05:30 2009] [error] [client 75.100.147.208] File does not exist: /home/myusername/public_html/themes/matrix/theme.css In this error log entry, why isn't "gallery2" in the URL after "public_html"? While logged in as an admin everything still has the matrix look and in the 'plugins' section, the matrix theme shows up with a nice little green check mark next to it. Any advice? |

FAQ: What information is required when I ask for help in the forums?
I'm betting your cache got cleared and you're using GD as your image toolkit.
Try to get ImageMagick working. But posting your system info will give more details to help us help you.

Thanks for the reply.
I moved ImageMagick to top priority and also checked that it (and also GD) passed the binary tests. Still no images.
Here is the system information from the maintenance section:

Uninstall GD, then try rebuilding your thumbs and resized versions. Either Site Admin > Maintenance or Edit Album > Album (tab) and select the appropriate options.

I'm guessing you mean to uninstall GD from the plugins section? When I click on "uninstall", I get the "Do you really want to uninstall Gd?" prompt, and when I click yes, the prompt disappears, but after ctrl+F5, GD is still there.
The "deactivate" or "delete" links don't work either.
Tried with Firefox & IE. Same result. When I use IE to try to uninstall GD, after clicking the "yes" box, in the bottom of the pane I see "error on page".
Is there another place/way to uninstall it?

Go back to Site Admin > Maintenance and click Run Now for the System Information task. Does that still say 2.2.5?
As for the plugin page not working, check out this thread:
http://gallery.menalto.com/node/84006
And you can manually deactivate plugins using the method described here:
FAQ: How can I deactivate a module when I am unable to login?

Ok, I'm breaking this into chunks so I can follow my thoughts better...
Instruction) Go back to Site Admin > Maintenance and click Run Now for the System Information task. Does that still say 2.2.5?
Response) No! Now it says "Gallery version = 2.2.6 core 1.2.0.8 " Were you expecting this? Because it surprised me a ton! I had [I thought] run the system info task very recently.
Instruction) As for the plugin page not working, check out this thread: http://gallery.menalto.com/node/84006
Response) This thread referred to a URL listed in the page source. I viewed page sources in two places; while I was in the plugin page, and while I was at the main gallery front page and saw plenty of "script type..." but they were all pointing to relative addresses; none were absolute, and I saw no "&" anywhere. If I was looking in the wrong place, please let me know.
Instruction) And you can manually deactivate plugins using the method described here:
FAQ: How can I deactivate a module when I am unable to login?
Response) Using phpmyadmin, I ran the query to deactivate gd. It worked. Then I ran rebuild thumnails/resizes and it was successful, BUT still no pictures anywhere.
I also found an instruction to re-run the installer up to the system checks step, where I got this (not listing the actual file names):
"+ Missing files (91)
+ Modified files (172)
+ Old files (97)
These files are no longer part of Gallery. They probably won't cause any problems but it is a good idea to remove them to keep your install clean."
When I saw this the first time, I figured it was no problem because of the "They probably won't cause any problems" comment.
Should I act on this? Do I need to re-download 2.3 to get those 91 files?

You're running 2.2.6, not 2.3. I would re-download 2.3 and replace all of your Gallery files with what you downloaded for 2.3. Then run the upgrader again. Even running http://www.exampl.net/gallery2/upgrade/ I clearly see you just have the 2.2 version files there, not the 2.3 version files.
If you are FTPing the files up to your server make sure they are getting overwritten.

All seems well, for the moment!
Thanks for your patience nivekiam.
I think the problem was that I was uploading only partial 2.3 packages. Just for the heck of it, I went to a mirror site to get the download package, and it was bigger than the others I had sent up with FileZilla. Could have been a problem anywhere along the line, but most likely my own fault. I use IZArc to unpack; maybe I had messed that up somehow.
Whatever the reason, it works now. I went to the installer, and partway through it said "you ought to be running the upgrader, not the installer" so I followed the instructions and almost everything went fine. I did get an "unable to upgrade imagemagick" warning, but that's probably best left for another thread (or better yet, I'll figure it out myself).
I really appreciate all the automation that's been done with the installer/upgrader, and I REALLY appreciate the people in the forum!

If you have any other issues, yes, please start a new thread so we can start fresh with new info.
