Hi all,
I've just installed W7 RC on 2 different machines, one the 64bit version, the other 32bit.
Under win XP I used the "publish to web" option with the registry entry thing that comes with gallery 2. Now I am not sure if that will work as I cant see any option to publish under win 7.
So what is the best way for me to now upload multiple pictures from my computer to my gallery? I dont really want to have to frig arround with uploading them to a separate directory via FTP and then using that to bring them into Gallery 2.
I'd appreciate your thoughts.

And you likely never will. Windows 7 isn't released yet and is not supported. G2 development is done, 2.3 is the last release, G3 is where it's at, but it doesn't yet have has many options for uploading as G2 does. If you find a way to make what ever photo thingy Win7 has work like XP Publisher or the Vista photo do-hickey please update the wiki.

You could try Gallery Remote.

But it will be relaesed in September ... that aint far away and a lot (probably most) windows Vista users will migrate to it as it is what Windows Vista should be. It is silly to not start development for windows 7 support now. If W7 suotherwise it will be a big "good bye" to gallery for me.
I was able to get Gallery Remote to work ... but the functionality is a little restricted and it only works when W7 is forced to run in compatibility mode ... not ideal.

No, it's silly to even start thinking about even supporting Win7. Development on G2 stopped with 2.3. Long before Win7 is going to be released and work on the WinXP Publisher was done long, long before Win7 was a twinkle in Microsoft's eyes. The Vista hack, is just that a hack. Nobody stepped up to the plate to provide a real approach. I really doubt that's going to happen for Win7.
Maybe for G3, but that's most likely going to have to be done by someone else.

Ok fair enough ... so what should I do? What can I do???
I guess it might be time to look for a different photo gallery package
pity I've been a dedicated Gallery user for at least 7 years.

Then you must be use to changes and G1 alpha software, that did not get supported forever and only had a simple upload method.
Anyway...
have you tried what nivekiam suggested?:
there is lots of other upload methods he linked to as well.
Or are you just set in getting W7 and the XP "publish to web" option?
If the current upload methods (15+ ways) are not enough for you, we welcome development on other methods. Care to contribute or find a developer that is willing to?
Dave

I have just installed Windows 7 and am also having a very hard time uploading photos. It appears the only option is to resize them myself and upload them from the web browser links. I really loved this program when I had XP it was so easy to upload lots of photos. Now it appears it will be more tedious to upload photos.
I am not a programmer, nor a developer, I could never dream of being able to do what you guys do, I just want to give you some feedback.

Gallery was developed YEARS before Win7 was even a pipe dream, there is absolutely no way we can know what Microsoft is going to do. And now that all major development is happening on G3, G2 will most likely not be enhanced. Supported, yes, but further development on G2 is most likely done.
I'd suggest taking a look at the "From Local Server" method:

I resize images in batch using Irfanview (when on Windows) then FTP them to my server and use the from local server method. Yes, it's an extra step than the XP Publishing wizard, but it seems to be more universal for what ever system I'm on, swapping between 3 different versions of Windows (4 once I get Win7) and several different flavors of Linux (some without a graphical desktop). And it just works, no hassle in getting it setup or anything like that.
