Hi,

Is it possible to create a user with limited editing capabilities... i.e. allow them to edit specific data fields and nothing else?

Also, as I build my next Gallery server, is there someone I can hire as a consultant that knows Gallery 2 real well and can help me with some small customizations?

I know this is 2 questions, but thanks for handling either one or both.

Maurice

This all depends on exactly you want to do. If you goto http://gallery.menalto.com/node/83743 the topic will show you how tostop users creating albums.
If you goto http://www.oxfordbusphotoclub.co.uk this is the basic layout of my site I am in the process of creating the button links to menus and the main content.
If you deside to register let me know but by doing so you will see more of the content that will be accessable to set groups etc.
If thats the sort of thing you want for your site I can give you pointers as what to do.
Now the most important thing for now is make sure you have a goo web design package you will need it for the development.
Also a must have is Firefox with these plugins installed Firebug Yslow measure it and a colour picker.
I also use Context for the text editor

Thanks for the reply. I see you have it embedded into Joomla. I don't think I will need to embed my gallery in Joomla or Wordpress to achieve what I want. All of my images can be public images.

What I am looking for is to be able to create a user that has access to log in with very few admin privileges. All I want them to be able to do is to change the title field of the images. I don't want them to be able to edit any other feature of any photo. It seems that the engine should support this, but I cannot find any specific user settings.

The final product will be a gallery with thousands of photos sorted by date that just need a title added to them.

Any ideas?

No, not possible without a lot of hacking. You could edit either your theme or a lot of core files to look for either someone with appropriate permissions or that particular user and only allow them to do what they should be able to do. It won't be an easy fix to apply.

O.K., good to know. I guess I will need to work more with users and user albums to control permissions and editing how the tool will allow.

Thanks for the input.
