Upgrade from 2.1 to 2.3 help

I have upgraded my server to Ubuntu 8.04 LTS and successfully installed gallery2 v2.3. I was previously running gallery2 v2.1. I backed up my entire /home/g2data directory which is where my albums previously were. How can I make v2.3 see my old albums or do I have to reload every picture? |

You didn't perform an upgrade, you installed a separate instance of G2.
Either follow these instructions:

or reimport your photos into your fresh, new install of G2

Cant I just point to the directory that has the g2data from the previous version?

You have to use the same database and same g2data directory. Without both, you'll have a broken install that's not fixable.
