Hi, I have the basic Gallery 2 theme installed on my hostmonster site (not sure which version, admittedly). It's important to note that the Gallery is a subpage and not my index page, which I created with Pagewizard Site Builder (I did this to keep gallery from taking over my site). I want to change my gallery theme to Greypop. How do I do this w/o losing all the hundred or so photos I already have on the site w Gallery 2? It's such a pain to upload them all so if I can somehow just txfer the images to Greypop that would be fantastic. Many, many thanks in advance. computer specs: Dan Please fill out the following form and take a look at the linked pages. The more information you supply, the better we can help you. download the theme, unzip it, ftp it to the theme direcotry, activate the new theme.

thanks floridave, so do I download it within my Gallery siteadmin, or into my Hostmonster cpanel files? Sorry, could you elaborate for me little more? I really appreciate it!

Download the file.
Unzip the file.
You will have a bunch of files in a folder called greypop
FTP that folder to the gallery2/themes/ direcotry on your server.

Great. It's in my themes folder among the others on my server. But it won't show up in Gallery itself on my themes tabs to activate... how do I do that final piece? Thanks for you help, Dave.

Did you watch the movie? You have to 'activate' the theme.

hey dave, yes, I watched the movie and the greypop folder is in my hostmonster control panel gallery-themes file, along w the defaults. I followed the movie procedure, updated the plugins from the official, community and experimental repositories, and while it added experimental themes, it still does not seem to have pulled the greypop file from my hostmonster server. Does it know to pull from my hostmonster server and not just the gallery mothersite? Thanks again,
Dan

If you have FTPd the files to the themes directory you should see a link to activate the theme.
site admin -> plugins, scroll down and you will see other themes as well as greypop if you FTPd it to the proper location.

Ok, I've reinstalled the Greypop file into the Gallery 'themes' folder in my Hostmonster file manager several times, and looked in my Gallery page under Site admin -> Plugins, at the bottom of the page w all of the default and community and experimental themes, but no matter how many times I do this, it doesn't show up. In my Hostmonster file manager, the file path I've ftp'd the Greypop folder to (unzipped) is public_html -> Gallery -> themes, and there is greypop. The folder's contents are: ajaxian, carbon, classic, floatrix, greypop, hybrid, matrix, siriux, slider, tile. All files are the same size (4kb) and same file type (httpd/unix-directory).
I've also tried ftp'ing the greypop133 master file, unzipped, to same Hostmonster file, but to no avail. When I look at Gallery under the 'Plugins' tab, I see the regular, default themes at the bottom. When I look under the "Get More Plugins' tab, I see those same defaults, in addition to some other experimental or community themes, like Opticalpork and X_treme. This is the same even after I update the plugin list, from all repositories.
What am I doing wrong? Thanks many, many times, Dave.

Sounds right to me.
If you look at:
public_html -> Gallery -> themes -> matrix-- you will see some files one will be theme.inc.
IF you look at:
public_html -> Gallery -> themes -> greypop-- you should see a similar file called theme.inc
All other themes will have a similar layout of files. Does greypop?

No. The default files all look the same, but Greypop looks like this:
if I ftp the motherfile:
greypop133 -> modules -> lightframe (or lightbox)or
greypop133 -> themes -> greypop -> images -> blank.gif/close.gif/expand.gif, etc and some .psd and .jpeg files.
if I ftp the the secondary file:
greypop -> images -> blank.gif/close.gif/expand.gif, etc and some .psd and .jpeg files.
I don't change anything from the unzip mode to when I ftp it; it all goes over. So it looks like there's a problem with the greypop download...?

OK, so the greypop theme has other stuff included.
if you look at the zip file it has:
greypop -> themes -> greypop.
in the second greypop direcoty under themes you will have the files needed.
move or reFTP the files from the themes direcotry to the server.

Awesome. Greypop shows up in gallery now and I've activated it. Now, when I activate it, the theme change seems to take place on that particilar 'themes' page, but when I go to the rest of the pages, the theme does not change, even after refreshing, loging out/in. It doesn't change for any of the themes, btw. Is this b/c I have photos on the site already? Why, after greypop has been activated and applied, would the theme not change for the gallery? Dave, I'm almost there. Thank you!

OK I asume you have the theme activated, along with the matirix theme.
Now that the theme is activated you have to apply it to the albums you want.
Edit album -> theme tab. You should be able to choose the greypop theme from the dropdown, then save.
Also there is a setting for the 'default theme'
Site admin -> themes. Change the default theme.
The default theme is used for 'dynamic albums' and other admin pages as well as modules like the google map module page.
