Set user account time limits?

Greetings to the forums, I need to implement a system whereby users can create an account by registering, and the admin approves the account like normal. However, i need the user password to reset after 30 days, thereby rendering the account inactive. I can go about this in a variety of ways, but I was wondering if anyone out there had a suggestion on how i could accomplish this using the standard Gallery2 user and registration modules? I am fairly new to PHP, but unafraid. I'm using a custom compiled php 5.2.6 on a dreamhost vps - if that matters. Right now my hunch is to use an outside user registration/managment system, but it would be preferable if i could keep my back-end interface under one roof. I've not seen any plugin like this for G2. So an "outside" system that ties into G2 will probably be the way you need to go.
