Can the IPTC Caption be shown with each photo? I see an option to add title or description, but not Caption.

Thanks for any help. If this theme doesn't have the option, do other themes have that option?

Dave

Thanks. I'm working through it. I reimported and my Captions are now showing. But in some cases where I don't have a Caption, "Minolta DSC" shows up. I'm not seeing this in either the EXIF or IPTC info, but obviously related to the picture taken on a Minolta camera.

And I'm wondering why one can't do this after importing? Also confusing because Caption in Gallery (although maybe this comes from a plugin, not the basic Gallery) means something other than Caption in IPTC.

Lastly I'm surprised that most users want to see the filename on the page, because filenames are usually ugly. But maybe this is because I'm on a Mac, but I doubt it because I see the filename on so many photo galleries (not just Gallery).

Maybe all of this will make sense after a while, but judging by the referenced discussion it won't be soon.

Thanks again

Found it IFD0—Image Description (I'm referring to Minolta DSC ). Identified with TIFF in some places.

So either this field or Caption gets mapped. I need to decipher the EXIF/IPTC Settings page.

I had this setting:

When photos are added to Gallery check for EXIF Image Description and apply to:
Item Summary
√ Item Description

Which makes sense for the "Minolta DSC," but if Caption (aka IPTC Caption/Abstract/Description) exists it gets mapped to Title (aka Object Name) I think. So it's doing more than it says? It's mapping an IPTC tag when I use an EXIF option.

Time to go get some other things done before I go crazy in alphabet soup. No doubt I'm missing something. Later.
