Regarding HTML links within comments:
currently target _blank is ignored/deleted and does not show up in the HTML code. Is there a work around? I do not want users to exit the blog; I would prefer to open a new browser window/tab for them.

HTML isn't supported in comments. All HTML is filtered out.

EDIT: as in you can't even get a clickable link in a comment in G3.

I closed the ticket, cause I'm pretty sure that we support html in the comments. I know I've tested it... you just need to make sure the purifier module ( a non-core module that is is not shipped as part of gallery3) is installed and activated
