get thumbnail from subalbum

My gallery (not online yet) has three levels of albums and I would like get the thumbnail from a sub-album to be the thumbnail of its parent as well. I'm currently using Matrix theme, but any theme would do. Here is what my gallery looks like: When I do this the Top Albums don't have any thmbnails, but the Sub Albums does. I would like Top Album 1 to have the latest thumbnail from its Sub Albums (Sub Album 1 and 2) I've searched and tried, but can't seem to get it right... Could any one help me or point me in the right direction, please. |

'make highlight' of the item you want. Then as you move up the directory structure you need to highlight that album.

Thnks for your reply. But is there no way to get this done so that it always is the latest added image from all sub albums that is used for the top album?
I tried to walk through the subalbums (Sub Album 1 and 2) and get the latest image from each subalbum and then use that image as thumbnail for the parent albumm (Top Album 1). But I really have no idea on what Gallery2 functions to use.

There is no way to use the most recent item as the album highlight.
