Unable to see Gallery 2.3 as an available module within Drupal 6.4

Gallery version: v2.3
Apache version: 1.3.33
PHP version (don't just say PHP 4, please):4.4.8
Graphics Toolkit: netpbm
Operating system: windows xp
Web browser/version (if applicable): Google Chrome 2.0.172.43
Drupal: v.6.4.0
mysql:v 5.0.51

Attempting to enable Gallery 2.3 as a module within Drupal 6.4. I have followed the instructions within the http://ftp.drupal.org/files/projects/gallery-6.x-1.0.tar.gz file. But after copying the gallery.module file from this tar file to my Drupal modules/ directory I don't see gallery as an available module to be enabled. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Gallery appears to work fine as a standalone application after I installed it.
